How did you find out about Get Loose?

A friend told me about Hackney City Farm a couple of years ago when I was just starting to look into ways to live more sustainably. I was intrigued (a farm... in London?!) so I went there to check it out, and I discovered Get Loose.

What is your role and what does it involve?

I'm one of the shop's volunteers so you can find me at GL every Thursday evening, mostly by the till serving and advising customers, but I also multi-task cleaning shelves, restocking and splitting bags of all the GL awesome goodies! I also keep an eye on our Instagram account posting and replying to messages.

Why do you love Get Loose?

When I discovered Get Loose I was in awe. Package-free shops were a whole new thing for me, and my life was definitely not very environmentally friendly back then. Simply put, I just love the very fact that I can reuse my jars and bags to buy food and stop trashing the planet!

Why do you enjoy volunteering?

My Thursday evenings at Get Loose are my safe place. I love to switch off from work and then immerse myself doing something completely different from my day-to-day job and that has a meaning. I'm a big advocate for sustainability now so by volunteering at Get Loose I feel like I'm doing my bit to help the community, our suppliers and the shop itself! Furthermore, thanks to Get Loose and all the amazing people that work and volunteer there, I discovered new products and ingredients, local producers, sustainable alternatives to mainstream products and much more - it's such an inspiring place!

What is your Favourite product and why?

Such a difficult question! Currently probably the dried figs (they're so juicy) and cashews, but some of my all-time favourites include sunflower mince (you just can't find it anywhere else!), jumbo oats and cocoa powder.

If you could promote Get Loose on Tube advert what would you say?

I would use a picture of a fish trapped into a plastic bag - sadly there are so many - with the writing "Get Loose".
